iEdison

iEdison: an interagency online reporting system for recipients of federal funding agreements to report subject inventions to the federal funding agency and complete other reporting as required by the Bayh-Dole Act and its implementing regulations

Welcome to iEdison!

The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) launched the new iEdison system on Tuesday, August 9, 2022.

The iEdison utilization reporting functionality has been updated and new standard utilization questions are being used for 2023 reports forward.  For additional information on how to respond to the new utilization questions, additional guidance is available HERE. Also, see our Training Opportunities page for utilization reporting-specific training sessions posted for October and December to learn more about how to submit these reports.

Logging into the new iedison system

NOte:  For Optimal viewing, it is recommended to use Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser for iEdison

You must have an iEdison account AND a Login.gov account (both using the same email address) in order to access iEdison. If you had an iEdison account in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) eRA iEdison, it was automatically migrated into the new iEdison system.  All you need to do is register for a GSA Login.gov account with the same email address affiliated with your iEdison account. If you need additional information on how to register your organization, obtain an individual account under your organization, or register for Login.gov, instructions are available HERE.

Once you have a Login.gov account, follow the instructions below to login:

  1. Click the "Login to iEdison" box at the top of this page (this will forward you to a "Warning Notice" which includes the System Usage Agreement and statements related to the OMB Burden and Privacy Act)
  2. Click  "Continue" (this will forward you to Login.gov) 
  3. Login to your Login.gov account (this will re-direct you to the new iEdison application)
  4.  Agree to the Rules of Behavior (this is only required on your first login and then again annually)
  5. Then you ARE IN!

  1. Attend a Training Session - NIST is offering multiple basic training sessions. Training dates and information on how to attend are available HERE.
  2. Read the iEdison User Manuals - Both Contractor/Awardee and Agency User Manuals are available HERE.
  3. Watch Demonstration Videos - Demonstration Video Tutorials are COMING SOON. They should be available HERE in the next 48 hours.

Utilization Reporting Changes Coming in 2023

NIST has announced new changes coming to Utilization Reporting in 2023.  Additional information, including a preview of the new questions, is available at https://www.nist.gov/iedison/2023-utilization-questions-update.
